Eco-Drive watches are great. They have a light-sensitive cell behind the face that recharges the watch even in indoor light, so it doesn't need new batteries until the rechargeable one dies, and it lasts for many years. My ten-year-old Citizen Eco-Drive watch died recently, having run flawlessy without ever needing a new battery for all that time. The crystal had recently been scratched, so I replaced it with this model, which appears to be the thinnest (4.2mm) in Citizen's product line. To get that thin look, you sacrifice a hand that counts seconds. The bracelet is as wide as the watch itself, ao it's about 1/4" wider than a normal watch band. But the case is relatively small (1-3/8" x 1" wide) so it doesn't look oversized even on a small wrist.

The booklet that comes with the watch doesn't tell you how to shorten the bracelet, which has enough links for a wrist with about a 7-1/2" circumference. Each link adds a bit over 1/4" to the watchband. You need a jeweler's... Read more

I bought this watch as a Christmas present for my husband and he absolutely loves it! It is a gorgeous watch and matches both yellow or white gold. Very stylish for a businessman and a beautiful design. Very good deal that the jewelry stores could not match! We are very, very pleased. Eco Drives are the best.

The watch lives up to my past good experence with Citizen watches. This watch is attractive and very comfortable. I have only had the watch for a few weeks but it seems to be made well and I expect it to last as long as past Citizen watchhes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great watch!, December 27, 2009
This review is from: Citizen Men's BM8454-93A Eco-Drive Flexible Band Two-Tone Watch (Watch)
Great, fashionable watch.

This watch has luminous hands and dial so you can see the time at night which is not mentioned in the Amazon description.

Band is a flexible band but it is a different type of flexible than the traditional and fits snug but not tight and doesn't pull hairs.

For the money this watch is hard to beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really nice watch, May 13, 2012

This review is from: Citizen Men's BM8454-93A Eco-Drive Flexible Band Two-Tone Watch (Watch)
I've only had this watch about 3 weeks or so, but I love it. My old Timex battery ran out after just over a year (it was suppose to be a "10 year" battery) and I bit the bullet and got this one. I'll really appreciate it not needing a battery a year from now. There were several Eco Drive models, some cheaper, but I like expansion bands and this one came with one. It costs me $3 at a jeweler to get some links taken out, but didn't notice till I got home that they messed the band up. Had to take it to another jeweler to have a link put in and fix it properly. Note that this band isn't as easy as a cheapo Spandex band to adjust, its a booger (don't try it yourself!) so take it to a good jeweler the first time. The band is very sturdy and should last "forever". As a "senior", I fully expect this watch to outlast me and it's comforting to know it "just works" and I don't have to worry about a battery running out any more. Looks great. My only complaint is that while it does have... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars I expected a little better durability, January 4, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Citizen Men's BM8454-93A Eco-Drive Flexible Band Two-Tone Watch (Watch)
As a physician, I have always purchased a watch with a flexible wristband so that I can quickly remove/replace the watch for the countless handwashings required over the course of a day. Today, nearly 8 months after purchasing this watch, it fell off my wrist, the band broken. I had already become dissatisfied with the watch because the glass face is made of such a soft material that it scratches surprisingly easily. The face of my watch is covered with scratches, even though it spends the vast majority of its time covered with my suit sleeve. It did keep very good time. After previously having a string of disposable Timex watches ($35-40 at WalMart) which would last a year or so, I decided to get a better-quality watch, but this Citizen seems to be no different than my cheap Timex's. The nice thing about the Timex's in fact is that I could get the Indiglo feature which makes reading your watch at night a cinch. The fluorescent hands on this watch are nearly useless unless you hold... Read more

This watch looks much better in person and is very comfortable to utilize as an every day watch. I believe that this is the best squared chronograph money can buy for 200 bucks.

5.0 out of 5 stars great watch, May 16, 2012
This review is from: Citizen Men's AT2000-54E Eco Drive Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
I have been looking for this watch for about 6 months. I wanted to update my watches, with something that I could where to visit a client as well as look appropriate if I went to a BBQ. I did not want a watch with a cluttered face , but did want it to have the date and a Chrono-features. This watch looks great feels great and is a great addition to my everyday wardrobe. I highly recommend this if you are looking for an any occasion watch.

Just bought mine - looks very nice...a little smaller than most mens chronos today, but still vey masculine. Quality band and catch for this price point.
As someone beginning to need reading glasses, I find the silvered hands a little difficult to see, especially on the complications dials, but overall has a great cross over board room to boat deck feel.

Mine came without an instruction book - but a simple web search on "Ecodrive date adjust", got me on track with relative ease. Otherwise pretty intuitive if you've had aJapanese chrono before.

Be aware, while watch is water resistant, it is not a screw down crown type. Not sure I would take this much deeper than a shower!
